IceWarp's Speaker Guidelines

If you are interested in speaking at the Advanced Messaging & Information Technology Conference '08 please contact Lisa Glitzner ( lglitzner (@) icewarp.com )

We Value Your Participation

IceWarp has always valued the relationship we have with our customers. Your company is a member of the dynamic community we serve, and plays a critical role in the development of our Messaging platform.

However, we did not choose you to speak to several hundred assembled guests simply because of your company’s position. The biggest element in our decision was, by far, your personal knowledge base and your proven talent as a speaker. We call upon you by name, and trust that you will find the experience both valuable and enjoyable.

If circumstances change and you are not able to deliver the presentation as planned, kindly advise IceWarp as soon as possible. We will work together to find an alternate speaker from your organization.

Future Promotions:

In addition, be advised that IceWarp, Inc. and Waterford Receptions reserve the rights to use the presentation in future promotions, royalty free. They may also use speaker photographs and other likenesses.

Proprietary Rights:

Please make sure that either you or your company is the rightful proprietor of the information in your presentation.

Quality and Quantity

Each session is approximately 60 minutes long. There will be no more than two or three speakers in each session, with very few exceptions. Therefore, your sessions should be approximately 20 to 30 minutes.

Case studies will help illustrate key points in your discussion, so definitely share some with the audience. Naturally, leave out information that is proprietary to your company –– but do your best to maintain the core of your stories.

Avoid the Sales Pitch

The best way to promote your company is to choose a topic that will be relevant to the audience, to command the subject, and to show how your company has improved operations in an innovative and dynamic manner. The expertise you demonstrate will bring recognition not only to your company, but to yourself as a speaker, and as an expert in your niche and in the field of Messaging. Convey information of value to the audience, and that will go farther than will a hard sell.

Feel free to provide the audience with your company profile, but remember not to over–indulge. The core of your message is your message.

Please refrain from passing out business cards or any information about your company during our presentation. Please feel free to do this at any other time during the conference.

Presentation Style and Format

IceWarp will provide you with a PowerPoint template for your presentation. You will be required to use this template. Sorry, no exceptions.

Proposing an Existing Presentation

Please do not pitch a session simply because you spoke on the topic elsewhere. To ensure that the topics of discussion at this Conference are fresh and relevant, please make it original.

Session Moderators

Session Moderators will be selected from our lineup of speakers. Moderators will play a vital role at the Conference. The Moderator not only keeps an eye on time of the given speeches –– they also ask questions, catalyze discussion, involve the audience, and give solidity and cohesion to the topics. If you feel that you would be interested in serving as a session Moderator, request it in your application. But don't do so, lightly, as it takes a special kind of presenter to be a Session Moderator.

Conflicts of Interest

If have a tie with a company that you discuss, which can be deemed a conflict of interest, please disclose the nature of the relationship or excuse yourself from the discussion.
